What is Maverest Dental Alliance?
Maverest Dental Alliance is a preferred provider dental network owned and managed by a
partnership of health care consultants and dentists. Maverest Dental Alliance is a network
of dental providers that can be utilized by insurance companies, self-funded employers, unions,
third party claim administrators (TPA’s), and medical-only PPO’s.
Why should I join the Maverest network?
Maverest builds long-term relationships with our providers, offering access to thousands of potential
patients each month. Additionally, we recognize the importance of timely payment for the services you provide.
We work closely with our esteemed payors who consistently pay their claims according to contract requirements and state laws.
How does Maverest steer patients (members) to my practice?
Maverest steers patients to your practice in a number of ways. Not only does our online provider search list
all participating providers, it is updated automatically. Frequently, directories are distributed to employees
who request them. Payroll stuffers are available to employer groups to distribute to employees to encourage them
to use a MDP provider when seeking dental services. Postcards and posters are also provided to HR staff to prompt
employees to visit www.maverest.com to search for a network dental provider.
How are Maverest's participating dentists reimbursed?
They are reimbursed based on the Maverest Dentist Fee Schedule
for each specified zip code area. The Fee Schedule determines the total fee
that a participating Maverest Dental Alliance member (insured individual) will
be obligated to pay a Maverest Dental Alliance dentist for services provided. The
total fee shown on the fee schedule is the combined total of the member’s deductibles,
coinsurance and/or co-payments required at the time of service, plus the benefit
payment from the member’s insurance company or benefit administrator. (The amount a member
is required to pay at the time of service, depends on the type of benefit plan under which
the member has coverage.)
How are claims submitted for Maverest?
Claims should never be submitted to Maverest Dental Alliance. Claims are submitted directly
to the insurance company or claim administrator designated on the member’s
health or dental benefit identification card. Maverest Dental Alliance's dentists are not required to provide services
at the Maverest Dentist Fee Schedule if the member (patient) does not
provide a current dental benefit identification card. ID cards must either have the Maverest Dental
Alliance’s logo on the card or Maverest Dental Alliance has specifically
identified those members to Maverest Dental Alliance dentists by ADMINISTRATIVE BULLETIN.
How much can an employer, TPA or union save by using Maverest?
The savings experienced by an employer, a TPA or a union
is determined directly by the type of dental benefit plan that is offered to
their respective employees and/or members. Dental plans typically range from what is termed “passive” network
access to “highly network directed.” “Passive” plans contain no additional costs to the members for using
non-network dentists, but when Maverest Dental Alliance's providers are used the
employer and the member save an average of 22% for each dollar of services at a
participating dentist. Dental plans defined as “highly network directed” will reduce benefits if non-network
dentists are used, creating a significant cost savings for the employer regardless of actual network utilization.
How much can a member (insured individual) save by using a participating Maverest dentist?
As stated in question #4 above, the actual savings will depend on the type of dental benefit
plan utilized by the employer, TPA or union. With most dental plans currently
using Maverest Dental Alliance, members typically save from 18% to 35% of the
members’ out-of-pockets costs for co-payments and coinsurance. The savings percentage depends on the
applicable Maverest Dentist Fee Schedule for the area and the dentist’s
standard full fee for the same service/s.
How will Maverest's dentists be informed about members?
Maverest Dental Alliance has two methods of making sure that a participating dental
practice knows how to recognize and service its members.
FIRST: As frequently as possible Maverest Dental Alliance will send an ADMINISTRATIVE
BULLETIN to each dentist on each new network access client. The ADMINISTRATIVE BULLETIN
will contain the information needed as to where to call to verify eligibility and benefits,
where to submit the claims, and a high quality copy of the front and back of the group’s
identification card.
SECOND: Maverest Dental Alliance is working with all network clients’ to have its logo affixed
to their ID cards by mid-2001. If any participating dental practice does not have an ADMINISTRATIVE BULLETIN
for the group ID card that has been presented, but the Maverest Dental
Alliance logo is shown on the card, please
contact us
and we will assist with any questions.
